Across the delta .....

Red Jack and his men have to find there way across the delta to safety (continued from the previous post)....

---oXo---
As Red Jack and his men head into the delta, they encounter a small group of natives, who run off after a warning shot is fired ....
The pirates move slowly across one of the larger islands in the delta ...
the men at the front find themselves under attack from natives with spears, they shoot them down quickly before they can get too close ... but more natives await on the edge of next island ....
Another group of natives has appeared behind the pirates, but hang back after being fired at....
The local crocodiles fancy a bite too, but one gets in close and is dealt with ..
The pirates move forward to the next island
They engage natives across the water, some pirates are hit by bow, spear and musket fire...
The natives then attack the pirates .....
The pirates push back the natives ....
The pirates cross to the next island, killing the last few natives and make their way through the deserted village....
The natives behind the pirates, had been more cautious and not attacked, they just followed them...
After making they way through the village they met up with some men from the shore party who had headed inland towards the sound of the gun fire...
Red Jack and his men made their way to the shore party's encampment with no more trouble from the natives; on arrival they had a hearty meal before rowing out to the ship.

Which way to go ?

Red Jack had been busy; landing at night on coast near Puerto Cabezas (in Nicaragua), he had robbed the provincial governors house of its valuables (including one specific item which purportedly indicated the location of a stash of Aztec gold).  He planned his escape route carefully, he went the way the authorities would least expect back out through the swamps and lagoons.

---oXo---

Of the local natives reports he has seen a strange group of white men .....
Red Jack and his men, having got to the edge of the jungle area, now have to find their way to the coast ...
One of the crew shimmies up a palm tree, in the distance he can just make out the coast and the sea...
Waiting by the coast for Red Jack, a small shore party keeps a look out for him ....

  to be continued ...

The Governor wants Red Jack caught ....

The Governor of Jumeida, visiting one of the smaller ports on the island, stares with grim satisfaction at the body of a pirate hanging on the local gibbet.

Governor: That's a good few pirates hung over the last few months. HMS Prince Albert and its commander Captain Biedekker have done well. Any luck tracking down Red Jack ?
Aide: No sir, haven't had any luck with him or Blue Bess.
Governor: That damnable pirate must be caught ! We must do more .....
